Blogercise.com was written by an experienced industry professional who works for one of the largest and most successful UK consumer websites.  Forget boasts of 7 figure sums, this chap’s company sold for a 9 figure sum just two years ago.  He works right at the heart of the operation heading up the Business Intelligence team.   This places him right in the middle, interfacing with dedicated  content teams, site designers, contract negotiators, search engine specialists and user experience professionals.  He has trained with the likes of Google and Microsoft and been a supporter of Internet development ever since he first discovered it back in the last century.  His own part time efforts provide a modest, but most welcome, return on the time invested.

Motivation

Being a typical unassuming British chap, I found that the hard sell make money online blogs with their unrealistic claims of instant limitless success very distasteful.  There are some great reputable people operating in this space who can provide a great personal service for an appropriate fee.  If you don’t have time to run a site yourself and need a jump start then there is definitely a place for these services.  However part of the appeal of running a website from one’s home is the ability to do so with minimal cost and the fun of working things out for oneself.

There are also many sites that make outrageous claims of instant success – for a fee of course!  Unfortunately due to defamation laws I won’t name or go into detail, you can look up such sites yourself and decide whether they are really genuine services or a “unique opportunity”!  I will however say that no matter how they dress up the concept of website building it always comes down to the same fundamentals.  Make a site,  get people to it,  make some cash from your visitors.  Job done.  There is no more to the business model than that.  Read through the 10 steps on this site and you will know how it works, and you’ll know enough to build .  After that it’s down to your own imagination, creativity and hard work.  And this is even before you consider the obvious, if these gurus are so wealthy, why are they trying to make some extra money by selling their secrets online?  Of course they will roll out the stock answer to this question but I’ll leave you to make your own minds up!

Ironically sites that charge a fee are often taken more seriously than ones that offer information for free!  Free information is seen as less valuable.  I however pledge to keep this site free to read and will let you make your own choice.  You can stick around, read up on the point of view of an industry insider, learn how to develop and adapt your own ideas, build long term successful sites you can be proud of.  Or you can go and  get yourself rich quick.  Good luck with that.
