Finally got round to installing the “related posts” plugin for e107. Anyone familiar with WordPress will know how this works. After each post the plugin attempts to pick out similar posts and lists them afterwards, this is a great way to help readers explore your site and hopefully see a little more of your site than just the page they Googled in to.
An alternative to this plugin could be to link posts together using the tag table built up from my own tag plugin. Any posts that share tags will be linked to. In fact, I might just add this in as a little bonus when I get a spare minute.
In the meantime I look forward to giving Reshadat’s plugin a go, looks like it works well. I just need to think about how it fits in with the theme!
The version I downloaded, which I believe is the latest, requires a little tweak. The shortcode related.sc is coded with H1 tags – probably not ideal to have “related posts” as your main page heading! If you already have H1 tags on your page, for example your theme might have the main site page heading wrapped in them already, then this will make your page use incorrectly formed HTML as only a single level one is allowed per page.
I suggest this quick update:
$return= "<h1>Related Posts:</h1><br>";
$return= "<strong>Related Posts:</strong><br>";
