Following on from my post on shared installs, I also wanted to ensure each site based on the shared install has it’s own header logo and favicon. Setting up a favicon only takes a few minutes (use a free icon making site such as this) and I always think its a nice little detail to get right. It’s the little things that make a site look professional or otherwise amateur!
This was a fairly striaght forrward excercise. In the config file I defined a constant based on the domain name. I then used this to generate a prefix that I inject into any call for the favicon or site header image.
So now setting up a new e107 or WordPress site involves two extra steps, creating a header logo and the favicon, but it gives each site a little bit of extra individuality when using the same themes.
