I recommend regular reviews of your hosting service, the rival companies are innovating fast and what works for you today may not be the best choice tomorrow.

Cloud Hosting Option
Vidahost have reviewed their price structure from when I first signed up, they initially charged a flat £11.99 a year but this might not be suitable for those with a smaller requirement. The good news is that there are now cheaper options available for those starting out.
The opening package starts at just £29 a year which is great value for those starting out. If you are considering setting up your first site then its a low risk entry into things. And the great thing about a cloud based solution is that it’s easy to ramp up.
This price allows you to host 6 sites, transfer 25gb a month and store 2gb of data. This is really plenty for the beginner to start out with. You won’t be needing more until things begin to take off.
For those moving a more established suite of sites, there are higher tiers aimed at small businesses at £59 an £99 or for those with big sites there is top level option at £199 a year that allows “unlimited” storage and data transfer.
How do I rate the service?
I continue to be impressed by Vidahost. Their solution is effective, it has always been reliable and performed well. I particularly like the ease in which I can spin up new sites at will.
Another key decider when it comes to choosing a host is the quality of support and again I have only had positive experiences. Unfortunately last year SammyNetbook was hacked (this was my fault, I had an unpatched version of vbulletin running on there). Vidahost were very helpful and ensured I got a backup restored with minimum fuss.
So, it looks like I will be sticking with Vidahost for another year!
