Whilst packaging up my affiliate plugin in preparation for a “beta” release I had a dramatic change of heart.
The plan had always been to release an “all-in-one” affiliate plugin that packaged up all the various bits that I’ve written, mostly to make it easy for me to install and move to new sites.
But it occured to me that no one else will really get what the plugin is for. Is it for managing affiliate links, adding Amazon products to posts, auto linking for SEO purposes?
It seemed that I had created something kinda complicated and if people didn’t quite know what it was for then they’d not be all that bothered about trying it out.
So I have split the original work into two simple plugins:
- Simple Affiliate Links
- Simple Amazon Units
One of the golden rules of marketing is creating something people can understand, if no one knows what it is and what problem it can solve for them, they’ll never get interested.
There is now one plugin for people who wish to serve Amazon products from multiple countries up to their readers in one product unit and one for managing all of your affiliate links.
Interested in a private Beta? Get in touch – the plugins are in a working state and running on my demo site! Public beta will follow. And the eventual goal will be to free the code and host it at WordPress.org
