Well having just blogged about the Skimlinks addition to vBulletin being a good thing, I’ve found that it doesn’t actually work for me!
vBulletin bombs out with:
SELECT `enabled` FROM `skimlinks` WHERE `userid` = 1
My forum was down for a whole evening because this only comes up when you view a post and I didn’t have time to check after the upgrade (5 month old baby!)
Anyway, the quick fix is to just disable SkimLinks in the product manager. The error actually occurs because the table hasn’t been created correctly and the advice is to run the upgrade again. Although it’s weird this happened on both my forums? Perhaps the MySQL database was locked for some reason? Backups running? Who knows!
I’ll let you know how it goes.
Update: OK got it sorted. The trick was to uninstall the skimlinks plugin (AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products) and then reinstall the product. You need to select this xml file “./includes/xml/product-skimlinks.xml”. You’ll get a message saying you need to import using the installer, just click OK. Afterwards you need to associate your SkimLinks account. Hope this helps.
